Dried Portabella Mushrooms
Largest of the commercially available mushrooms, dried portabellas are robust and rich in flavor. The mature cousin of white button and cremini mushrooms. Portabellas have a large round cap, light brown in color but with black gills underneath. They have stumpy, short stem which is edible. They have a rich, earthy flavor and the texture is akin to very tender cuts of beef. They’re extremely versatile in the kitchen and durable when cooked.
